SRnet Membership* Criteria and Fees
To become a SRnet member organizations must:
- agree to adhere to the SRnet AUP with regards to the use of their network access,
- pay the one time cost required to secure a local loop and acquire the necessary electronics to connect to the SRnet switch, and
- pay the annual membership in quarterly billings, and
- be approved for membership by the SRnet Board
SRnet’s AUP requires that each member has a commercial internet connection and that organizations do not operate a commercial business using SRnet.
SRnet membership is based on connecting to SRnet in one geographic location. SRnet connections are currently available in Regina, Saskatoon, Prince Albert, and La Ronge. Bandwidth options available in all locations are 100 Mbps and 1 Gbps.
As of fall of 2011 Saskatoon members have a 10 G bandwidth option. Regina members will have a 10 G bandwidth option by the fall of 2012.
SRnet membership is required with the first connection to SRnet. Any other connections to SRnet, in other geographic locations than the first, will require another connection fee. The connection fees are based on bandwidth which can be either: 100 Mbps, 1 Gbps, or 10 Gbps.
Members are responsible for the one time costs associated with the initial connection, including the local loop costs, as well as the costs for procuring, owning, configuring, and maintaining the network equipment and electronics required to establish the connection to the SRnet switch. Electronics consist of a demarc switch and a BGP capable router.
Members requiring lightpath technology must procure a 1 Gbps membership and are responsible for procuring, owning, configuring and maintaining any CWDM equipment that may be required.
Once connected the only charge assessed by SRnet will be the annual membership fee:
Single 100Mbps Access - $12,000 + GST ($1000/mo. + GST)
Dual 100Mbps Access - $24,000 + GST ($2,000/mo. + GST)
Triple 100Mbps Access - $36,000 + GST ($3,000/mo. + GST)
Quad 100Mbps Access - $48,000 + GST ($4,000/mo. + GST)
Single 1Gbps Access - $24,000 + GST ($2000/mo. + GST)
Single 10 Gbps Access - $36,000 + GST ($3,000/mo. + GST)
